December 16 and 17, Friday and Saturday
Friday and Saturday have been pretty good days after a very hard week for little Kailey. Friday, Kailey seemed to be a little better, but then Friday afternoon, fluid was found in her lungs and the fever returned. They used the cooling blanket to treat the fever, which seemed to help. Saturday, Kailey was alert and talking all day long and had very little fever.....it was wonderful to see. The cooling blankets were even removed from her bed. However, the chest x-ray now shows she has pneumonia. The weekend doctor over intensive care talked briefly to us yesterday (Saturday) evening. She explained since Kailey is a chemo patient, she feels it is hard to know what to expect. Kailey could truly be on the rebound, or she could have a few more bad days to go through. We look forward to talking to Dr. Mogul or Dr. Bryant on Sunday to get their thoughts. Kailey is receiving several types of antibotics and she is on oxygen from time to time, so her little body will not have to work so hard. They are monitoring her potassium and giving medication for it as needed, as well as her blood pressure. It is important that Kailey sit up as much as possible, which is a little uncomfortable for her.
We are very grateful for your concern but would like for you to refrain/limit your phone calls to Jocelyn while Kailey is in intensive care and so sick. Cell phone use in intensive care is not allowed other than quick calls that are absolutely necessary. Most of the day Saturday, Jocelyn had frequent phone calls. Kailey likes Mom close and giving her undivided attention .......or Mom is trying to rest for a few hours.
We have been so blessed by many in all the material things you have provided. We are asked constantly if there is a material need and there is absolutely not one material thing needed. If anything changes, we will certainly let folks know. We have several email addresses we use to send out a request for help, urgent prayer need. If you would like to be included, let the family know and we will certainly add you to the email list.
The big need is prayer! Pray Kailey will not be in discomfort for one second. Pray she will sleep peacefully and get all the rest she needs. Pray somehow her body will prepare itself for the next round of chemo which is scheduled to begin Monday, 12/26. Pray for Kailey's medical team. Pray they will clearly see our Lord's direction in her treatment. Pray Kailey will be a witness to all those who are following her journey. Pray with a joyful heart for the good day Kailey had on Saturday and for the smiles we got to see! Pray without ceasing.

To Kailey & Her Entire Family,
It is early Sunday morning and while having my coffee, I just had to check and see how Kailey is this morning. After reading just a few lines, I felt moved to stop and say a Prayer for Kailey. This need to Pray for Kailey was so strong that I feel it was a special Prayer that God will surely grant. I truly feel that Kailey will improve today and she will be home to enjoy Christmas.
Love Ya,
Joan Pearsall

I was sent a message from a friend of a friend asking to say a prayer for you. Kailey, please know you are in my prayers, and the prayers of my family and friends!
Remember, GOD answers prayers! There is nothing stronger than the power of Prayer.

Hi sweetie! I was afraid you must be feeling yucky since we didn't reschedule dinner at Cracker Barrel and the McAdenville Lights last week. But... YOU get your rest and feel better soon! Tell your Momma to call me when she gets a few minutes and let me know when I can come see you.
Love and big hugs - Jeanna
PS - Those Christmas lights will be there next year!!
