Kailey Miller

Kailey was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myelocytic Leukemia) on September 15th, 2005. Because so many people want to be involved, her family thought it best to keep everyone updated through this website. Here you will find updates on how Kailey is doing, what is involved in her treatment at this time, along with some fun pictures of family and friends. Please stay updated to find out how you can be praying for her and our family.

January 20, Friday

Little Kailey is about the same. She runs a fever from time to time but other than that, she feels good. While this could be discouraging to hear, there are so many, many blessings. The only time she feels bad is during the time she runs the fever and she is eating everything and anything she wants. Her mom goes out to get her Subway sandwiches, Wendy's hamburgers (with onions) and fried chicken!! And then she loads up on goodies from the grocery store for Kailey to have in the hospital!! Little Kailey is not experiencing any stomach problems and NO MOUTH SORES...how blessed can we be!! (We almost hate to mention those dreaded mouth sores!) Kailey is not nearly as sick as she was in December when she spent a week in intensive care. She does have a few side effects from some of the medicine she is taking...but things could be so much worse. How blessed can we be folks!! And we know your prayers for this little one are playing a major role in her life right now! Please keep praying. Dr. Bryant had told us that Kailey would probably experience problems after each chemo treatment and each time might be a little worse, so we are blessed Kailey is up and eating!!...how wonderful. There was a bone marrow test done just to make sure there were no signs of the leukemia...and there were none!! Another huge, huge blessing. Kailey's body is just being really slow about building back up from this last round of chemo and that is ok. Dr. Mogul and Dr. Bryant have been preparing us for this. We need to remember a healthy person has to be on medicine for ten to fourteen days to get over an infection and Kailey essentially has no immune system right now...so it will take longer!!! We are just so richly blessed to have such a wonderful medical team and facility specializing in the care of young children so close by! And they all love Kailey!

Kailey has a big weekend coming up, she will nine on Sunday! Please, folks, there is not one thing this child needs. Please do not send any stuff animals, craft items or toys...she has received everything she could possibly need or want. If you would like to do something...send a birthday/valentine card with a prayer written on it so Kailey can use the cards to decorate her hospital room for February. Handmade items would be great!! It will make her birthday last longer!! And the most important thing you can do is to say a very, very special prayer for little Kailey on Sunday. We praise God for all of her mighty prayer warriors!

Please continue to pray for little Kailey. We probably should not expect any change for the next few days....but you never know with Kailey! It does look like the start of the next round of chemo will have to be postponed...but that is ok. We know the Great Physician is caring for this little girl and when it is time to start the chemo...Dr. Mogul and Dr. Bryant will know! And this is suppose to be the last round of chemo!!! Pray that the chemo will be completely effective in treating the leukemia. Pray for Dr. Mogul and Dr. Bryant. Pray they will clearly see the Great Physician's direction in Kailey's treatment. Praise God for their wonderful care. Praise God for the wonderful care givers at the hospital...and such a wonderful hospital. Pray Kailey will not experience any discomfort. Pray Kailey will be a witness for all who are following her journey. Pray without ceasing!

Did I read this correctly? Kailey has no sign of leukemia! Does that mean she is in remission? How wonderful! I am sure that she has more treatments to insure this horrible disease is truly gone, but what a Blessing! I am convinced that in the near future we will all be able to look back at this as a "thing of the past"

    Thinking of you,
